The Basics of Animalia
Now you could probably take another guess as to what organisms can be found in this Kingdom. That's right, animals. This is the third of four Kingdoms found in the Domain Eukarya. Since this Kingdom consists of animals, humans, insects, so on and so forth, they are multicellular organisms. They are heterotrophic, so their body does not make their food. The cells they have are eukaryotic, just like Kingdom Plantae and Fungi that you may have already read about in the past two tabs. But unlike those, Kingdom Animalia organisms do not have a cell wall. Fossil records support that animals may have first appeared 700 million years ago.
Penguins
Penguins, as you may know, live in the snowy, cold Arctic. In order to stay warm in the blistery cold winds, they have adapted to live in fairly large groups, where they then huddle to avoid the wind. An obvious adaptation of the penguin is that they have the small pouch just above their feet. This is to hold their egg to protect it from predators and breaking.
