Basics of Protista
The Kingdom Protista is the last of the four kingdoms in Domain Eukarya. Just like Plantae, Fungi, and Animalia, it is a eukaryotic cell. Most organisms from Kingdom Protista are unicellular, but some are colonial or multicellular. The cell wall is present in these cells, and is made of cellulose, and sometimes chloroplast. It can be a autotroph or a heterotroph. So it can either make its own food or feed off of other organisms. Protista life is said to be approximately 1.5 billion years old.
Paramecium
Paramecium is an example of a Protist. Paramecium has specialized (adapted) regions to take in food, expel waste, and maintain water balance. Also, it has adapted cilia, tiny hair-like things, on the outside of the cell. These cilia allow the cell to move around its environment.
