The Basics
Domain Eukarya consists of four different Kingdoms. One of these kingdoms is Kingdom Plantae. Now just by hearing the name, you could probably conclude that plants are filed in this category, and you are correct! Examples include: mosses, ferns, and flowering plants. If you want to check out a more specific example, just check out below! Now let's see, the Kingdom Plantae are multicellular organisms who are autotrophic, or they make their own food. Since they are multicellular, that means they are eukaryotic cells. These eularyotic cells have a cell wall that is made of cellulose. The Kingdom Plantae first appeared in the Ordovician Period, which was a very long time ago.

A conifer is a tree with thin, waxy leaves and many of them. The thin, waxy leaf adaptation allows the conservation of water, since the conifer tree lives in dryer environment. The other adaptation it has is keeping most of its leaves during the winter, so photosynthesis can occur earlier in the spring. Since they don't have to reproduce another set of leaves every year, they can grow in environments that are not as rich in nutrients.
